Even Russia Says Trump Is Lying About What He And Putin Discussed This Weekend

On Saturday, Donald Trump made headlines again as he clashed with top intelligence officials over the subject of whether or not Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election.

That they did is settled fact, at this point — every US intelligence agency agrees that Russia did interfere, and that they did so in an effort to assist Donald Trump in winning the presidency.

Trump, however, still unfortunately believes that he can minimize or downplay the findings of even his own CIA. In aboard Air Force One on Saturday, Trump said that he “can’t stand there and argue” with Vladimir Putin about Russian meddling, which he says he brought up once again with Putin when they met over the weekend.

I just asked him again. He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election, he did not do what they are saying he did. He said he didn’t meddle. He said he didn’t meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times. Every time he sees me he says, ‘I didn’t do that,’ and I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it. I think he is very insulted by it.”

The director of the CIA, Republican Mike Pompeo, declared after Trump’s remarks that he “stands by” the intelligence community’s findings.

But in another hilarious turn of events, it seems that even Russia is ready to throw Trump under the bus when it comes to his outlandish claims.

When CNN’s Matthew Chance Dmitri Peskov whether the two leaders had discussed election meddling, Peskov said that the subject hadn’t come up. Chance asked him, “as far as you know, did the two leaders discuss meddling?” Peskov’s answer was brief:

You know how, when you would tell a lie when you were a kid, you’d add all sorts of irrelevant details to make it seem more believable?

Yeah, that.
