CO-Sen: Watch Cory Gardner (R) Rant Against "Radical Environmentalists"

Here's another example of Tea Party Rep. Cory Gardner's (R. CO) extremism:

The latest example comes in a previously obscure video, unearthed by Brad Johnson, of remarks Gardner delivered in August, 2013 at a conference sponsored by the Steamboat Institute in Steamboat Springs Colorado.

In his kickoff address to the group’s annual conference, Gardner referred to people who question the runaway oil and gas boom In Colorado and elsewhere in the U.S. as “radical environmentalists” and “social engineers,” kicking off an energetic call to arms for the fossil fuel industry:

We have to stand up to the radical environmentalists, the social engineers who believe that we must stop. And in Colorado we know that threat is real. We know they’re going to try to stop something that is creating jobs on the eastern plains and the western slope of this great state. We know they’re going to try to say no to the Marcellus, no to the Bakken. They’ve already tried to say no to the Keystone pipeline. But you know what? We know we’re going to win because of the power of our individual job creators.  They are right, they are with us. And when the individuals realize what is at stake in this country, we will rise up, and we will win! The shale revolution is real!

The Steamboat Institute touts its mission as educating the public on the “Founding Principles of the United States” and describes its members as “Defenders of Freedom and Advocates of Liberty.”

In his remarks kicking off the institute’s 2013 meeting, Gardner also blasted President Obama as someone who was misappropriating executive powers and undermining the Constitution. - Think Progress, 11/3/14

Yep, this is what we're facing tomorrow. We have a close race and tomorrow, it's all about who turns out. Senator mark Udall (D. CO) has been working to help get a key demographic out to the polls tomorrow:

On Monday, the incumbent kicked off his final day of campaigning at Metropolitan State University, where dozens of supporters waved “Latinos Con Udall” signs and chanted the candidate’s name.

“We are all Americans!” Udall said. “Todos somos Americanos!”

The main topic for the speakers, which included a DREAMer student, former senator and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez, and Senator Michael Bennet, was immigration reform.

“Let’s make tomorrow a statement that this state and this country is going to move forward and embrace all of its citizens,” Udall said.

Here they had a clear case to make to Latino voters concerned about the issue: Udall supported the Senate’s bipartisan immigration bill while House Republicans killed it, then voted to deport DREAMers. Gardner stuck to the standard conservative line on immigration for years before tacking to the center more recently, but he’s still avoided taking a decisive stance on the issue. How could you possibly reward the GOP with a victory after that?

“They don’t want to have anything like immigration reform, they don’t want the DREAMers to be able to achieve their dreams and that’s really what’s at stake in this election,” Salazar said. - MSNBC, 11/3/14
