This 2-Minute Clip Explains How Trump Collusion With Russia Has Been Proven Already

Wednesday night on Rachel Maddow’s program, she showed us a brief video of Rep. Adam Schiff’s opening statement during with social media regarding Russian interference in the 2016 election. Schiff, of course, is the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, and he has been absolutely outstanding in his capacity as a leader of the ongoing investigation by Congress into how the Trump campaign managed to unite with the Russian government in order to win the presidency.

Rep. Schiff spent his entire opening statement to basically lay out a timeline — much like Rachel does, actually — that recaps everything that is now established fact in this investigation. That is to say, those things that have now been proven through the investigation or admitted to by the parties accused.

Nothing we’ve seen so far breaks down how this case has already been blown wide open quite like what Rep. Schiff said on Wednesday:

We now know as a result of the guilty plea by Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos that the Russians approached the Trump campaign as early as 2016, to inform them that they were in possession of “dirt” on Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of stolen emails … The uppermost levels of the Trump campaign were also informed that the Russians had dirt on Clinton that was offered to the campaign in what was described as part of the Putin government’s effort to help Mr. Trump. The President’s son said that he would love the assistance, and suggested that the best timing would be in the late summer … At least one top Trump official, the President’s own son, accepted.”

There has never been an explanation as easy to understand as what Adam Schiff just laid down in Wednesday’s hearing. As Rachel says, Russia offered help to the Trump campaign, and the Trump campaign accepted. All of this has now been proven.
